The theme of our first workshop is Lacto-Fermentation. We'll learn the basics of pickling and fermentation techniques, one of the easiest canning methods! Participants will learn about food safety, how to replicate this easy method at home, and take home a couple jars of vegetables. We will be providing all of the tools and vegetables needed for the class.

Fall is the perfect time to learn how to prepare your soil in your garden for the next growing season.

Come and learn how to build, nurture, and benefit from a composting system from one of Edmonton's most knowledgeable composter/gardener. Mark is a master composter and master gardener with decades of experience.

The workshop is free.

The cafe will be open prior to the start of the workshop for beverages and food.

Thoughtful Tuesday is a film/documentary screening series hosted and curated by Earth's Refillery & Cafe Coop. As a community, we watch a film/documentary, and then discuss what we watched, what we felt, and how that will inspire us to act.

Our master gardener and master composter will show us how to provide the best and correct soil conditions to grow the foods you want to grow in your soil.

Some plants like full sun, some like partial shade, some like lots of moisture while others like it a little on the dry side. Certain plants like different soil conditions and with this knowledge we can help our plants thrive.

The status quo of simply adding a generic fertilizer with high N-P-K numbers is counterproductive to good soil health, especially in the long term.

Feed the soil correctly and the plants will grow well.

Our very knowledgeable workshop presenter is a master composter and master gardener. Come and learn and grow!

Climate Change. It is here, and it will only get worse for us and our descendants.
We need political change. We need politicians who will act on climate.
The National Emergency Briefing was a campaign in the UK where experts travelled around the country and had conversations with people.
A film was produced of this campaign to spread the message further.
We are showing this film to encourage local citizen action on climate and how to affect our elected politicians.
The cafe will be open until the start of the documentary (6pm) for beverages, treats, and food.
