June Recap

Despite the weather this June, we pulled through and only had to postpone one event - Solar Fest - which evidently requires a cooperative forecast. We’ll try again in late July!

We had some great points of connection with various groups and organizations, including PSA MacEwan, who hosted a native seed-shaker workshop, CJSR, who landed in the Piazza for refreshing drinks after a long group bike ride, VVoA, who gathered for National Animal Rights Day, Taproot Edmonton, who put on an awesome trivia night all about Edmonton, Edmonton Sustainable Fashion Show, who invited us to the show, and the Cherry Pit, who we have partnered with to provide space for their free arts programming for queer youth multiple times a week.

We also had our second Upcycled Market which carried on despite heavy rain and being split up between our space and the vacant space in the piazza strip mall, and our Eco Dance Party, which started off with a technical emergency but was solved, as usual, through the help of a co-op member who had the cable we needed and brought it over to save us!

Financial Update:

Firstly, a HUGE thank-you to everyone who has been extra supportive this past month after we launched our monthly membership subscriptions. So far, about 40 members have signed up for a monthly contribution, which makes a huge difference. On top of that, a few members have generously offered their time helping out with photography and offering advice. It has been so great to see the community come together around supporting a space they feel adds real value to the community, which has been the cooperative vision all along.

We ask that you continue to tell your friends about us and consider us as one of your first stops when doing your regular shopping, and ask us about special orders if there’s something that you buy regularly but don’t see on our shelves.

Masc Sunday is having a birthday bash! Bring your friends, your family, your neighbours and the whole community. Bring your clothes and hangers to swap. Leftover clothes will be donated to the Pride Centre!
