Spring Update!

Happy “spring” cleaning to all who celebrate! We have your package-free cleaning essentials, sponges, cloths, and more in stock for you to start the season off feeling refreshed. A lot goes into choosing which cleaning products we offer. We go for products made as close to home as possible, organic when available, and the less packaging the better. We happily offer versatile chemicals like vinegar, baking soda, and soda ash, and some more specialized products like rosemary + peppermint countertop cleanser, citrus dish soap, and degreaser, bathroom cleaner, and all purpose cleaning tabs, and much much more!

April Recap

Local country music superstar, Corb Lund visited the shop to play a couple tunes on his province-wide Water Not Coal tour, where he visited local canvassing spots across Alberta. If you haven’t signed yet, there’s still time! Canvassers are here on Saturdays from 1-3pm and Sundays from 2-4pm.

Our second repair cafe was successful, with several items heading home in better condition than they came here in.

Sandwiched between two balmy spring days, our spring clothing swap took place mostly outside in the Piazza. Thanks to everyone who came out and brought items, and to everyone who took stuff home with them! Leftovers were donated to Bissel. We’re already looking forward to the next clothing swap which will happen in July.

Our next swap will be at the end of May, with a focus on all things baby and child related. If you need a sustainable gift for a baby shower or are expecting a little one of your own, this event will be the perfect place to come and stock up on some stuff that’s completely free. You can bring your kids and let them pick out a new toy or outfit without breaking the bank. On the flipside, if your home is full of clutter that your kiddo has outgrown, this is the spot to drop it off!

Thoughtful Tuesdays are on hold until the days start getting shorter again, as the light levels presented a challenge to getting a good picture on the screen.

New Coffee supplier: Just Us! Coffee Roasters

We know the coffee lovers out there are big fans of the Ethical Bean coffee we were carrying in bulk and serving in the cafe, but following the unfortunate news that Ethical Bean was bought by Kraft, we decided to switch to a supplier we align with more strongly. Introducing Just Us!, a coffee roasters cooperative based in Eastern Canada. All of their beans are fair trade, organic, and roasted with love on the Maritime coast.

Staff Secret Menu Drinks

If you’re looking for a fun drink to try to switch things up from your usual order, ask about our staff secret menu! Featuring:

• Christina’s “Sparkling Pondwater”, perfectly balanced layers of refreshing sparkling mango juice, earthy matcha “pondsludge”, and chia “frog eggs”, remniscent of a sunny day spent admiring a wetland ecosystem.

• Kenzie’s “Yellow Milk”, a blend of turmeric, vanilla, and cinnamon, all frothed in a cold oat milk bath.

• Becca’s “Coming to the Cottage” Russian Caravan tea latte with a natural smoky pine infusion, highlighted with peppermint and vanilla syrups.

Thursday Extended Hours

We are open late on Thursdays until 7pm for folks who are in the area on weekdays but can’t squeeze a visit in before 5:00.
